Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has stirred debate on social media after sharing a video of his brief meeting with former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In the 35-second video posted on X on Sunday, Omokri was seen approaching Obi, who stood near a seating area with luggage and some associates. The two exchanged warm greetings, a handshake, and a brief conversation.

Omokri, dressed in a green traditional outfit and matching cap, captioned the clip: “Peter Obi And I Exchanging Warm Greetings Today At Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport In Anticipation of President Tinubu’s Reelection Next Year!

The encounter quickly attracted attention online, with many social media users reacting to the friendly exchange between Omokri — a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu and frequent critic of Obi — and the former Labour Party presidential candidate.

While some users described the moment as a sign of political maturity and civility despite differences, others accused Omokri of seeking public attention, arguing that the interaction appeared staged for social media engagement.
